Technical specifications

Fields of application:

Equipped with a 90-position sample changer, this instrument specializes in Bragg-Brentano mode acquisition of powdery or massive but small samples, or samples deposited in thin layers on monocrystalline or amorphous substrates.

Its detector offers excellent performance, except for samples containing Fe or Co, whose X-ray fluorescence is poorly filtered by the detector. It is also possible to install a waterproof cell.

This diffractometer, the most widely used amongst the XRD instruments of the platform, is capable of acquiring around 2,300-3,000 diagrams per year.

It is equipped with:

  • a Cu anode tube and a first-generation 1-D Si stripe detector (“LynxEye”);
  • a Ge monochromator (111) placed before the sample, to obtain pure Cu Kα-1 radiation. The Ge monochromator is advantageous for powders with large crystallographic mesh sizes and/or low symmetry, and for Bragg-Brentano mode (θ/2θ) studies of thin film samples deposited on single-crystal substrates.
