This optical microscope features 6 objectives ranging from 5x to 100x on an automatic revolver. The sample under observation can be illuminated by transmission or reflection, in brightfield or darkfield, and also with polarized light. A UV light source is also available. Its stage is motorized along the X and Y axes, allowing for mapping of samples up to 80×55 mm in size. The motorized Z-axis enables extended focus.
In the image shown here, captured using the Zeiss Axio Imager microscope, two layers of 6061 aluminum alloy produced by metal additive manufacturing are superimposed after the microstructure was revealed through Barker anodization.
